Recent figures have shown that residents
of the Dales have reached and passed this years recycling targets,
making sure that they will beat the 2010 recycling targets set by
DEFRA. Councillor Andrew Lewer, community and environment committee
chairman, said:
"We are delighted to have achieved this target ahead of schedule." Lots
of praise has been issued to the town and its residents for all of
their hard work.
In
light of this fantastic achievement their are calls for the council to
improve other aspects of the recycling schemes in the Dales, especially
in kerbside collection and the recycling of a range of other items.
Transition Matlock green group member Helen Cunningham has asked for
additional services to follow the group's strong recycling beliefs,
"as a group we're saying there are no longer just three Rs, but seven:
reduce, reuse, recycle, repair, revamp, restore and re-skill."
Derbyshire Dales District Council unveiled three new purple skips for
mobile phones and printer cartridges in our area this week. The
mobile phone skips will be placed at Matlock Sainsbury's, Granby Road
car park in Bakewell and Canterbury Road car park in Wirksworth for the
next six months.
