Wirksworth Infant School have been tapping into some of their own pupils' creativity by allowing them to help design their new playground. Working with RedWelly, a social enterprise that specialises in outdoor areas, the school is looking to transform their outdoor areas into stimulating and exciting areas for children to enjoy themselves. Ideas to come from these budding designers include a maze, wildlife pond, climbing wall and a variety of animals to play with in grassed areas.
Local businesses are being called upon to help out in several different ways. Firstly, the traditional sponsership route which will help to finance the transformation, but in addition, RedWelly offer a team building service, where groups from local businesses take the day to offer their services for good old physical labour with a portion of team building thrown in. This way is proving popular, with many organisations already taking part and seeing the benefits of their employees working together for a good cause.
They also hope to set up an outdoor classroom and refurbish the entrance areas. |
