Following the discovery of widespread contamination
at the site a new set of plans has been submitted for over 400 homes and buildings on the site of the Cawdor Quarry.
Groveholt Ltd is looking to develop the site near Sainsburys since being given planning permission in 2002.
Following extensive research and analysis the levels of contamination have been calculated and a plan of action and decontamination stratergies have been developed by the Environment Agency to deal with the problems that the site has. In addition to this, there were a set of rules developed by Network Rail that required large concrete barriers surrounding roads in the developemnt. The redesigned plans have dealt with this by improving the layout of the development.
The original plans included 432 homes, 22 business units and a community centre, which has remained unchanged, with the only redesign being in the layout of the development.
Anybody wishing to comment on the new application has until October 30 to contact the district council.
