Marie Rogers, Amanda Pashley and Emma Cundy are a trio of fundraisers based in the High Peak region who are planning to take part in a 19-mile sponsored walk between Buxton and Stepping Hill
in Stockport.
It is understood that any money raised will go to Stepping Hill's High Dependency Unit and Christie's.
Marie,
24, commented "My dad Graham was diagnosed with bowel cancer about
five months ago and had three months of radiotherapy and chemotherapy
at Christie's, and was then treated at Stepping Hill Hospital. During his stay at Stepping Hill, there were complications and he was transferred to the High Dependency Unit. He is now at home recovering and awaiting further surgery. We have no end in sight at the moment, with regards to dad's
treatment, but by doing this we are hoping to raise awareness of this
worthy cause, and express the appreciation that myself and my three
brothers have for the care and support received."
Their aim to leave Buxton via Manchester Road and onto the Roman Road at the back of Long Hill. They
will then join the Peak Forest Canal at Whaley Bridge and follow it to
High Lane, before walking the rest of the way along the A6. The women have already raised £300, but are appealing for Advertiser readers to offer their support.
