Birchover is a delightful positively quaint example of a Peak District village that has a character all of its own which is due in part to the pinkish stone that are the main building blocks of many of the older cottages in Birchover.
Birchover is situated on the outskirts of Stanton moor and not to far from the early Stanton moor quarries which is where the stone was locally sourced from up to four centuries ago.
The village has had some development recently but planners have enforced strict planning regulations to ensure any development is in keeping with quaint Peak District village atmosphere.
