If you are looking for a memorable break in Peak District Holiday Cottages then look no further than Bakewell. Bakewell is a picturesque town in Derbyshire, and the largest settlement in the Peak District. With a weekly Monday Market (including cattle) that has been held since Medieval times, Bakewell has a charm that makes it popular with visitors from all over the world. The mellow stone buildings, many of which date back many centuries, line its narrow streets and the River Wye runs right through the town attracting swans and other wildfowl. Spanning the river is a 13th century packhorse bridge that is still in use and from which there are lovely views of the town. Close by are the two stunning stately homes of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, both of which have been used as settings for historical dramas for film and television. As well as making an excellent base form which to see the best of the Peak District, Bakewell also has an excellent selection of Peak District Holiday Cottages available.
