Description
Welcome to Bretton Cottage - 5 Star Gold Award  2010

A top quality AWARD WINNING luxury bed and breakfast in the Peak District National Park.

An Impressive former 17th Century Farmhouse  Your hosts Andrew and Karen Metcalfe warmly welcome you to Bretton Cottage, a lovely old farmhouse which retains much of its old charm and character whilst having been tastefully decorated and refurbished.  Situated in a truly stunning location in an area of outstanding beauty and surrounded by the most spectacular panoramic views.  Bretton Cottage offers a high standard of comfort and service with luxuriously furnished en-suite rooms which are spacious, private and self-contained with very comfortable king-sized beds.  All rooms have flat screen TVs with DVD and free WI FI Internet.  There is also plenty of private car parking.

Location  We are situated within the tranquil hamlet of Bretton.  Just a minute stroll away is the ‘Barrel Inn’ the highest pub and dining restaurant in Derbyshire.  A superb setting in an elevated position with far reaching views of the Derbyshire countryside in every direction.  Easily accessed and conveniently located approximately two miles from the A623.  Also close to some of the Peak District’s best known attractions and within a short driving distance of good dining pubs and restaurants, we can recommend restaurants and dining pubs in the local area and organize guests booking arrangements if required.  Sheffield is 25 minutes.  Chatsworth House 10 minutes.  Castleton 10 minutes.  Bakewell 15 minutes.  Buxton 20 minutes.

Walks  Prepared walks and maps are provided of the local area to enjoy the breathtaking scenic country walking that starts as you step from your door.  The area of Bretton itself is a designated site of Special Scientific Interest by English Nature with many footpaths crossing wild flower meadows, woodland areas, and moorlands, however if you’re not feeling too energetic after a pleasant night in the Barrel Inn, just relax in one of the many seated areas in our beautiful landscaped garden and take in the open panorama.

The dining room  Breakfast is a real treat, served in the dining room which is light, airy and full of character.  Individual tables laid with white linen tablecloths and quality china are arranged around a cosy wood burning stove, which is always lit in the winter months.  Guests can relax and enjoy the lovely views of the countryside whilst choosing from our delicious cooked-to-order Bretton Cottage breakfast menu.

The breakfast menu  Our breakfast menu which is predominantly organic produce offers lots of choice including tasty homemade vegetarian options.  All the produce that we use is locally sourced from local butchers, farmer’s markets and (my favourite) Chatsworth House farm shop.  Our fresh free range eggs are from a nearby farm and homemade wholemeal and white organic bread is baked on the premises daily.  We also offer a selection of freshly brewed speciality teas and coffees.

If you have any special dietary requirements, just inform us and we will do our very best to accommodate your needs.
