Description
Sleeping 3 in a double and a single bedroom.
Bramwell Cottage is in the pretty village of Youlgrave, in the Peak park, Derbyshire. It’s very much a ‘working’ village and a great community, there are always people around, walking to the shops to clubs or taking part in the many interests that are explored here. Have a look on the Sustainable Youlgrave website or the Youlgrave village website and you will get an idea of what’s important to us living here. Our well dressing of which there are five are dressed at the end of June, come and have a look at the ancient tradition, its interesting, absorbing and artistic.
Bramwell cottage is wonderful, its more of a home than a holiday cottage with lots of character and around 150 years old! Houses really do age well don’t they and Bramwell certainly has, its improved with age and achieved charm and beauty! The views from the cottage are stunning, uninterrupted views, its like being in the middle of nature and the garden is full of birds giving you a wonderful morning chorus if you have the windows open.
As soon as you come through the gate at Bramwell Cottage, the rest of the world seems to slip away. Once inside, you will sense the warm and friendly welcome which is felt by all who stay here. Bramwell has an open plan space down stairs, which is perfect for relaxing, living and just hanging out. It’s comfortable and has the wood burner to keep you warm in winter and thick walls to keep you cool in summer. The kitchen is well equipped with cooker, fridge, microwave and washing machine. There is a coffee maker and a water filter.
You can keep in touch with wireless internet and keep yourself entertained with radio/hi-fi, LCD TV, DVD player and lots of games and jigsaws.
Upstairs there is a single bedroom, which could sleep 2 children if you don’t mind a bit of a squeeze and a mattress on the floor. It has a separate WC and shower room. The main bedroom has a clock radio with an ipod dock, so bring your music with you. It has an on-suite bathroom with a bath, so whether you fancy a soak or shower the choice is yours. The views overlooking Bradford Dale from the bedroom windows are fabulous.
Outside there is decking, where you can sit and disappear into the view, have breakfast, read a book or glance at the papers… It’s a place to unwind and pamper yourself.
All bed linen and enough logs to get the fire going are included. Please bring towels with you.
Bramwell cottage is non smoking, please respect this. Car parking is either on the road or in the small car park 2 minutes walk away.
There are two butchers, a post office and three pubs in the village all within easy walking distance. All the pubs serve food and the shops cater for most needs. One of the butchers is the paper shop.
There are many walks from the doorstep and the cottage has a variety of walking books and maps for you to use.
