Tourists in the Peak District are helping to turn around the economic downturn, with an increase in visitors and how much they are spending.
Figures show that Peak District tourists have spent more than £40million more than last year at a total of £1.46bn in the Peak District and Derbyshire.
The total number of Peak District Tourists is up by around 1 million to over 36 million and showing signs that this is to increase into 2011.
The Prime Minister has stated that tourism is to be one of the key drivers to kick start the UK out of recession.
'With the current economic climate that we are in it is fantastic to see that the Peak District is growing in Tourism and the amount of money being spent in the area' said Sally Wake, Director of Peak District Online .
