The well known internet bank Egg have stated that they intend to remain in the Derby area despite their parent company having announced that they will lose 52,000 jobs. It
is believed that the majority of the job losses will take place in
London and New York, particularly in Citigroup's investment banking
departments.
Egg currently employ 1,700 people in Derby. The company has not yet revealed whether the cuts would result in job losses at Pride Park. Instead,
the firm has reiterated comments by its boss, Bert Pijls, which were
made in an interview with the Evening Telegraph earlier this month.
A spokeswoman for Egg said "Derby remains our centre of excellence and we still plan to be here for many years to come."
