10,000 people have signed a petition that opposes the closure of 10 public toilets in Derby. This is Derbyshire reports that closure of the toilets would be "quite sufficient to deter some
people from even visiting our city." The publication elaborates "Much of the focus of the opposition has been on the effect on trade if people opt not to risk a trip into the heart of Derby. Shop doorways and alleyways can be expected to be put to a most unwelcome use as darkness falls. And
back in the city centre, those traders who have lost trade to Westfield
will find no consolation in having shoppers being pointed towards there
for their bladder relief." A meeting will take place tonight where people can air their views in front of the city council. The opposition campaign is called LOLA – Leave Our Loos Alone.
